In each case, the goal of the attackers was the same: Phish T-Mobile employees for access to internal company tools, and then convert that access into a cybercrime service that could be hired to divert any T-Mobile user’s text messages and phone calls to another device. The conclusions above are based on an extensive analysis of Telegram chat logs from three distinct cybercrime groups or actors that have been identified by security researchers as particularly active in and effective at “SIM-swapping,” which involves temporarily seizing control over a target’s mobile phone number. https://krebsonsecurity.com/2023/02/hackers-claim-they-breached-t-mobile-more-than-100-times-in-2022/ -- (Please remove QRM for direct replies)

By David Lumb Feb. 28, 2023 5:25 p.m. PT Google Fi, the tech company's mobile virtual network operator, once based its service on three different carrier networks for subscribers to hop between in search of the best signal. While that dropped to two after the T-Mobile and Sprint merger combined networks, now that's been limited to one after Google reportedly dropped US Cellular as an official network. Google Fi's support had supposedly told users that US Cellular was going away last week, according to a Reddit post. Google Fi users can still tap into US Cellular's network, but only while roaming, which users still won't be charged for, a Google representative told 9to5Google. https://www.cnet.com/tech/mobile/google-fi-reportedly-drops-us-cellular-leaving-t-mobile-as-last-network/ -- (Please remove QRM for direct replies)

By Eli Blumenthal Verizon is adding a new $2 fee to some of its older unlimited plans, CNET has confirmed. The new fee, which the carrier is describing as a "rate plan adjustment," will affect those who are on a variety of unlimited plans, including Beyond Unlimited (and its age 55 Plus variation), Go Unlimited and the older Verizon Unlimited plan. Customers will begin to be told about the new charge through email, physical mail and notices on their upcoming March bills. The new fee -- which will be $2 per line, per month -- will start with April bills. https://www.cnet.com/tech/mobile/verizon-is-adding-a-new-fee-on-some-of-its-older-unlimited-plans/ -- (Please remove QRM for direct replies)
