As was standard in that era, jobs are separated by those intended for women (e.g. operators and clerks) and those for men (plant workers, engineers, management). The film has lots of scenes of teletype operators, switchgear, and lines; and telephone switchboards and facilities. It mentions the importance of being able to dependably serve others as a key requirement for this field. As typical of films of that era, the narrator has a nice smooth voice, and there is quiet dignified but upbeat musical background. Interesting film. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VoQtd9apEUg ***** Moderator's Note ***** The film has several shots of panel exchanges, showing rods moving vertically on panels, relays, meters, etc. There are also scenes of Teletype repairmen tuning up Model 14 and Model 15 machines, and Western Union employees pasting printed paper tape onto Telegram blanks. Youtube automatically started another film after the first was over, showing the job of long-distance operator. The manuscript was written by someone named "Twogood", and I wonder if someone was having a little fun at the viewers' expense.
