Please do not call Rock Island, or CenturyLink to report or inquire about the outage, or make 911 "test calls" during the event. If you have any kind of a data connection please do not stream video. This will tie up backup systems residents are counting on to carry 911 and other critical calls. Residents who live alone and use a "Life Alert" type device, consider staying with a friend or arrange to have a friend or neighbor check on or stay with you. http://www.sanjuanjournal.com/news/the-411-on-anticipated-communications-disruption/ -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20180407143700.GA20037@telecom.csail.mit.edu> Date: Sat, 7 Apr 2018 10:37:01 -0400 From: Bill Horne <bill@horneQRM.net> Subject: CenturyLink solidifies Asia Pacific, global wholesale position following Level 3 deal by Sean Buckley With Level 3 assets now in its fold, CenturyLink is looking to enhance its business in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region, a move that reflects its growing global capabilities to address multinational corporations (MNCs) that have business in the area or need access into the United States. Both CenturyLink and Level 3, when they were separate companies, always had a presence in APAC, but each of the service providers managed it as an extension of its North American sales organization. https://www.fiercetelecom.com/telecom/centurylink-solidifies-asia-pacific-global-mnc-wholesale-position-following-level-3-deal -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ Message-ID: <insecdl9gu840ncb1bgcqj8ev4khreelg8@4ax.com> Date: Fri, 06 Apr 2018 09:17:07 -0400 From: Pete Cresswell <PeteCress@invalid.telecom-digest.org> Subject: Re: DHS has detected possible cellphone surveillance in D.C. – and doesn't know who's doing it Per Monty Solomon: > "StingRay" devices. Once the device has connected to a phone, does it also link to a "Real" cell tower and pass through whatever the phone does? i.e. If one's phone has been acquired by a StingRay box, is it obvious to the user that something is wrong, or does it look like business as usual? -- Pete Cresswell ------------------------------ ********************************************* End of telecom Digest Sun, 08 Apr 2018
