This is the next, big step in the process to create a network that can help first responders in future disasters like 9/11. Last week AT&T announced the exclusive communications platform for public safety came to life with the nationwide launch of the FirstNet Dedicated Network Core. This network will let first responders communicate wirelessly during a disaster. Something they were unable to do during 9/11. FirstNet will be the nationwide network that let's first responders communicate and save lives and property. https://www.computerworld.com/article/3267653/mobile-wireless/atandt-announces-firstnet-network-core-is-coming-online.html -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20180402161122.GA19839@telecom.csail.mit.edu> Date: Mon, 2 Apr 2018 12:11:22 -0400 From: Bill Horne <bill@horneQRM.net> Subject: Equipment trouble hampers AT&T cell service in Vail, other valley areas By Scott Miller EAGLE COUNTY - If you're an AT&T customer, then you may have noticed some gaps in your service in Vail and Beaver Creek. A fix is on the way. According to AT&T representative Suzanne Trantow, the problem in Vail is "due to a hardware issue with our vendor's equipment." https://www.vaildaily.com/news/equipment-trouble-hampers-att-cell-service-in-vail-other-valley-areas/ -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ Message-ID: <D1C42344-4782-4E2C-8B19-AA995C258DEF@roscom.com> Date: Sun, 1 Apr 2018 22:16:00 -0400 From: Monty Solomon <monty@roscom.com> Subject: Card Data Stolen From 5 Million Saks and Lord & Taylor Customers A ring of cybercriminals tapped into cash registers at retail stores to obtain the card numbers, then offered them for sale, a security firm says. By Vindu Goel and Rachel Abrams Saks has been hacked - adding to the already formidable challenges faced by the luxury retailer. A well-known ring of cybercriminals has obtained more than five million credit and debit card numbers from customers of Saks Fifth Avenue and Lord & Taylor, according to a cybersecurity research firm that specializes in tracking stolen financial data. The data, the firm said, appears to have been stolen using software that was implanted into the cash register systems at the stores and that siphoned card numbers until last month. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/04/01/technology/saks-lord-taylor-credit-cards.html ------------------------------ ********************************************* End of telecom Digest Tue, 03 Apr 2018
