Under the agreement between the city and Verizon (NYSE: VZ), finalized in June 2017, the wireless company committed to investing $100 million in Sacramento to establish an extremely fast 5G wireless network, implement advanced traffic control technology and offer free Wi-Fi in parks to improve internet access for underserved residents. In return, the city agreed to waive millions of dollars in leasing fees and grant the Verizon access to city conduit for laying fiber cables. https://www.bizjournals.com/sacramento/news/2018/11/12/sacramento-scraps-plan-to-install-verizon-kiosks.html -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20181115063440.GA5625@telecom.csail.mit.edu> Date: Thu, 15 Nov 2018 01:34:40 -0500 From: Bill Horne <bill@horneQRM.net> Subject: Annual Lobbying Expense by Centurylink A special interest's lobbying activity may go up or down over time, depending on how much attention the federal government is giving their issues.
