The challenge was brought by Timothy Carpenter, who was convicted in a string of armed robberies after the government reviewed 127 days of cellphone tower records showing his [use of his phone]. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/technology/wp/2018/06/22/supreme-court-says-government-needed-warrant-to-search-cellphone-tower-records/ [Site has paywall - Mod] ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20180622151625.GA15406@telecom.csail.mit.edu> Date: Fri, 22 Jun 2018 11:16:25 -0400 From: Bill Horne <bill@horneQRM.net> Subject: Verizon Is Already Benefiting From the Proposed T-Mobile/ Sprint Merger The wireless industry is less competitive than before even though the merger hasn't happened yet. By Adam Levy Verizon Communications (NYSE:VZ) is expected to post its first year-over-year increase in service revenue since 2014. Verizon saw service revenue tank after T-Mobile (NASDAQ:TMUS) started its Un-carrier initiatives, including unbundling installment plans and service contracts and bringing back unlimited data plans. The moves, combined with Sprint's (NYSE:S) aggressive pricing, put pressure on the larger competitor to follow suit and make some customer-friendly changes in order to prevent subscriber losses. Those measures coupled with limited subscriber growth led to a decline in wireless service revenue. https://www.fool.com/investing/2018/06/21/verizon-is-already-benefitting-from-the-proposed-t.aspx -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20180622152023.GA15429@telecom.csail.mit.edu> Date: Fri, 22 Jun 2018 11:20:23 -0400 From: Bill Horne <bill@horneQRM.net> Subject: For CenturyLink It Feels Like 2013 All Over Again By Michael Henage Before anyone suggests that I get paid to sell the shares short and bash CenturyLink let me put all of that to rest. First, I am a CenturyLink shareholder and have been for several years. Second, in 20+ years of investing I've never shorted a stock once. With that out of the way, I'm reconsidering my position in the company. When your original thesis for a company's future success starts to look doubtful, it's time to take a fresh look at what you own. Unfortunately, there are at least three warning signs that suggest CenturyLink's future isn't as bright as I once hoped. https://seekingalpha.com/article/4182632-centurylink-feels-like-2013 -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ ********************************************* End of telecom Digest Sat, 23 Jun 2018
