Subject: Arizona customer says she's still waiting for Verizon rebate Message-ID: <mc7omj$b2k$1@dont-email.me> MESA, Ariz. -- Pam Tidwell works in real estate, so having a phone is crucial to business. And when the new iPhone 6 came out, Pam thought it was the perfect time to upgrade. "I was really lucky," Tidwell told 3 On Your Side. "I didn't have to stand in line, I didn't have to wait. People were like, 'Oh my God, you got it on the day it came out?' I'm like, 'I don't know, I got lucky.' " Tidwell said she upgraded to the new iPhone 6 at a Valley Verizon store. Her biggest incentive was an online promotion offering a $200 rebate. http://www.azfamily.com/news/consumer/Valley-woman-calls-Verizon-out-a-missed-rebate-292426021.html -or- http://goo.gl/xeKISK -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my address to write to me directly)

Subject: Security attack hits the heart of SSL Message-ID: <mc7nmj$6pj$1@dont-email.me> Spread the word - please. I should not be surprised, but I am. An adware company figured out that they could do a man-in-the-middle attack on search queries, and insert pop-ups even for an https connection. You (yes, *YOU*) need to think about where that leads. The odds are that functionally-equivalent software is already in the computer you use at work, but instead of popping up ads, it is reporting ALL your "secret" searches and "private" emails to your boss. Subject: Venture Capitalists champion Net Neutrality Message-ID: <mc7p5v$d58$1@dont-email.me> (Bloomberg) -- A week before U.S. regulators vote on net neutrality rules, a battle is flaring over whether it's fair for wireless companies to exempt services such as music streaming from counting against subscribers' data caps. Venture capitalists have been asking Federal Communication Commission members to prohibit wireless providers from allowing content companies to pick up the tab for usage associated with their data traffic rather than having the consumer pay. They said it violates the concept that all Web traffic should be treated equally. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-02-19/net-neutrality-tiff-over-toll-free-data-pits-verizon-against-vcs -or- http://goo.gl/ixmZy0 -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my address to write to me directly)

Subject: Verizon says it will sit out the next spectrum auction Message-ID: <mc7oc4$9n7$1@dont-email.me> Verizon says it has enough wireless spectrum, but is it just a stalling tactic? The comments suggest Verizon won't need to participate in the next spectrum auction, but the carrier could just be buying time and pushing for more favorable terms. Verizon has had its fill of spectrum, the radio frequencies that power all wireless service. At least, that's according to Verizon Communications Chief Technology Officer Tony Melone, who told investors on Tuesday that the company has enough spectrum to handle consumer demand for mobile broadband capacity for the next few years. That's largely due to the $10.4 billion it spent on the government auction that ended last month. http://www.cnet.com/news/verizon-says-it-has-enough-wireless-spectrum-but-is-it-just-a-stalling-tactic/ -or- http://goo.gl/KsDl00 -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my address to write to me directly) She needs wide open spaces Room to make a big mistake - The Dixie Chicks
