Subject: Verizon questioned - locked bootload software in Android devices Message-ID: <jiubhv$htn$1@dont-email.me> Verizon write letter in regards to bootloaders, claims they could cause a 'Negative Impact' to customers. by David Pena March 1, 2012 Oh Verizon. What are we going to do with you? The boys over at Droid-Life intercepted a letter from one of their users to Verizon Wireless. The user claims that the locked bootloaders that Verizon loves to put on their phones, violates the "Block C License" . You got to love Big Red's response, as they first talk themselves up before getting to the point of why they are phone Nazis. First and foremost, they begin the letter by stroking their "customer service ego", by saying that they have established excellence to the customer experience. Then they go on saying that if any customer has any questions that they...blah blah BLAH! When they get to the point, they simply state that any changes in the phone's software can cause a negative impact to how the device connects to the network. In their words, "alter the Verizon Wireless Experience". Like it is a freakin' 3D ride at Disneyland. http://androidspin.com/2012/03/01/verizon-writes-letter-in-regards-to-bootloaders-claims-they-could-cause-a-negative-impact-to-customers/ -or- http://goo.gl/CdNGX -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my address to write to me directly)

Subject: Verizon explains locked bootloader stance in letter to FCC Message-ID: <jiuc87$qoc$1@dont-email.me> by Dan Graziano - March 2, 2012 In a response to the FCC following a formal complaint, Verizon Wireless has outlined the company's policy on locked bootloaders. An irate Droid-Life reader became fed up with the carrier's consistent locking of bootloaders on its flagship devices and decided to file a complaint with the Federal Communications Commission. The reader claimed Verizon's policy was in violation of the "Block C license," an agreement the company made when it purchased its 700MHz LTE spectrum. http://www.bgr.com/tag/verizon/ -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my address to write to me directly)
