I'd appreciate your opinion on a new feature I'm experimenting with:
clickable links in the web-based version of the daily Digest.
I've added HyperText markup to today's digest page, which allows
visitors to click through to each post. Please visit the site and tell
me what you think of it.

Senators Shumer and Cornyn have introduced legistlation at the federal
level to require identification to obtain a prepaid cell phone and for
suppliers to keep records for 18 months. Their press release is at:

Seems like if you want to keep from being tracked (by police, spouses,
ex-girl/boy friends, etc), you'd better find a good old fashioned pay
phone and bring lots of dimes... All to catch terrorists and drug
dealers, of course. Little mention is made on how to protect
whisleblowers and battered spouses, though.

Nahh, just stock up now - or wait for later and buy one from those who
will have a large stock of anonymous phones for all sorts of people
with the need.

A couple of MVNOs to look at too. They have prepaid with remarkably low
international rates.
www.lebara-mobile.co.uk
www.lycamobile.co.uk
You can easily get a SIM for Lycamobile (and, I'd guess, Lebara) for
about UKP 2.00 from smaller independent shops, especially ones run by
Pakistanis.
You really need an unlocked phone for them though you can often use one
that is locked to the network they run on. E.g. Lycamobile (but not
Lycamobile Plus) uses Orange and works fine on an old phone I have locked
to Orange.

That's only 3.9% difference in residential listsings, which doesn't
seem like a major shift. It could be explained by other factors.
