Voice over Internet Protocol, or VoIP (pronounced VOIP), is growing so fast that it's almost overwhelming. In fact, I think it's a safe bet to predict it's how a great many of us will soon be making most of our telephone calls from home -- and maybe work, too. The big news this week regarding VoIP was Thursday's announcement by America Online of its new Internet Phone Service, rolled out in 40 cities across the country, including Detroit. I've been testing it since midweek and will have a full review in Tuesday's Free Press.
