Charter and Comcast agreed last year to cooperate on back-end operations for mobile networks, including leasing Verizon's cellular network, but they're offering their services separately. Comcast launched its mobile plan called Xfinity Mobile in 2017; it costs $45 a month for unlimited data. http://www.uppermichiganssource.com/content/news/Charter-launches-wireless-plan-as-cable-companies-diversify-492511681.html -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20180906162505.GA30877@telecom.csail.mit.edu> Date: Thu, 6 Sep 2018 12:25:05 -0400 From: Bill Horne <bill@horneQRM.net> Subject: UPDATE: Telephone and Cell phone Outage in Lincoln City, OR area restored Lincoln City, OR Police 911 Center was advised by Century Link at about 6:35AM this morning that telephone and cell phone service to our area has been restored. This last statement is not true, and is, ironically, what Trump himself is inaccurately claiming. The Post is not affiliated with Amazon; it is the personal property of Jeff Bezos. Bezos is also Amazon's founder and is currently its largest (16+ percent), but not majority, shareholder. Amazon is therefore not the Post's corporate parent, though "half-sibling" might qualify as an apt description of their relationship. > It was sad there was no outrage to this. Agreed. More directly related to the telecom sphere, another worrying example of political interference in markets can be seen in President Trump's opposition to AT&T's effort to buy Time-Warner. There are valid legal and public policy arguments about market concentration and such that can be made against this combination, but "I hate CNN's 'fake news' coverage of my administration" is not one of them.
