How have some construction companies used telematics technology to reduce operating costs while improving job site security and worker safety? Verizon Connect has been assisting construction fleets to achieve bigger profits and greater efficiency with the help of location-based intelligence. There are several key areas where Verizon Connect make a significant difference to the bottom line of fleets operating in the construction and building industries. https://www.equipmentworld.com/partner-solutions-article/verizonconnect/4-tips-for-a-safer-more-secure-and-more-profitable-construction-business/ -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20180630232203.GA13705@telecom.csail.mit.edu> Date: Sat, 30 Jun 2018 19:22:04 -0400 From: Bill Horne <bill@horneQRM.net> Subject: No one said cutting the cord would be easy By Edward C. The fee hike was first noticed by BTIG Research analyst Walter Piecyk (via CNBC), who pointed out that AT&T has increased its monthly fees by approximately $1.23 in 2018 with two price hikes in April and June. Customers are now paying $1.99 in administrative fees, up from 76 cents last year. https://www.macrumors.com/2018/06/27/att-doubles-administrative-fees/ -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20180630233553.GA13895@telecom.csail.mit.edu> Date: Sat, 30 Jun 2018 19:35:53 -0400 From: Bill Horne <bill@horneQRM.net> Subject: Mapping The Nsa's Secret Spy Hubs By Brian Barrett The Intercept this week published the locations of eight AT&T buildings that it says also serve as surveillance hubs for the National Security Agency. By piecing together public documents, classified files, and interviews, the outlet identified these networking equipment centers in Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, New York, DC, and Atlanta. These locations are significant in that they route traffic not just from AT&T customers but from other internet backbone providers who have so-called peering agreements with the telecom giant. The facilities don't exist specifically for the NSA; they simply offer the most bang for the buck in terms of watching data pass through. There's nothing necessarily illegal about the arrangement, but the NSA is prohibited from spying on communications between two US citizens - a lot of which presumably travels through these eight sites. https://www.wired.com/story/security-news-this-week-mapping-the-nsas-secret-spy-hubs/ -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20180701004826.GA14286@telecom.csail.mit.edu> Date: Sat, 30 Jun 2018 20:48:26 -0400 From: Bill Horne <bill@horneQRM.net> Subject: Paging Wes Leatherock Wes, Your AOL account has been hijacked and your address book is being used for spam.
