One of the media properties owned by Verizon, TechCrunch, is reporting that the carrier wants to add a new "over-the-top" video service, as well as a connected home platform for internet of things applications. Sports is a likely area for Verizon's expansion, since the carrier recently signed a deal to stream NFL games live. By Stephen Shankland Political pressure may have interfered with a second deal by Chinese tech giant Huawei to sell its phones in the United States, this time with Verizon Wireless. On Monday, news emerged that AT&T pulled out of a deal to sell the Huawei Mate 10 Pro, and The Information reported the deal had been a victim of congressional pressure.
