Seattle resident Paul Robisch said he agreed to a bundle package for cable, phone, and internet for $93.93 a month when two door-to-door sales representatives visited his home. His actual bill turned out to be around 89 percent higher than he had initially agreed to pay, over $177 a month. http://www.king5.com/money/consumer/centurylink-customers-complain-about-billing-nightmares/441975389 -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to send email to me directly) ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20170604152407.GA27221@telecom.csail.mit.edu> Date: Sun, 4 Jun 2017 11:24:07 -0400 From: Bill Horne <bill@horneQRM.net> Subject: CenturyLink Fined 23K for Communications Outage OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) - State regulators have fined CenturyLink $123,000 for failing to notify state officials on time about an outage last fall that left thousands of customers with spotty 911 service. The Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission said Thursday that the company had an outage in Klickitat and Skamania County 911 Emergency Services for two days in November 2016 but failed to notify regulators as required by state rules. https://www.usnews.com/news/best-states/washington/articles/2017-06-02/centurylink-fined-123k-for-communication-outage -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ Message-ID: <E8CED76D-4CA5-4E3D-BEE9-49FA50A2350C@roscom.com> Date: Sat, 27 May 2017 17:31:26 -0400 From: Monty Solomon <monty@roscom.com> Subject: How to Abandon iOS and Switch to Android How to Abandon iOS and Switch to Android By David Nield Having guided you through the not-all-that-straightforward process of switching from Android to iOS, we're back to tell you how to go in the opposite direction. (Make your mind up will you?) Going from Apple-powered devices to Google's platform is either ridiculously easy or rather taxing, depending on your current setup. Good news if you're already heavily invested in the Google ecosystem on your iPhone. You can switch to Android in an hour or two and keep your evening free for seeing friends or browsing Netflix. Otherwise, better cancel those evening plans. http://fieldguide.gizmodo.com/how-to-abandon-ios-and-switch-to-android-1795041885 ------------------------------ Message-ID: <91F3A88B-874D-482B-A586-02DE7FFE8828@roscom.com> Date: Sat, 27 May 2017 17:30:32 -0400 From: Monty Solomon <monty@roscom.com> Subject: How to Abandon Android and Switch to iOS How to Abandon Android and Switch to iOS By David Nield Maybe you like the curves of the iPhone 7, maybe you just don't trust Google with your data any more, or maybe someone just gave you an iPhone as a birthday present. Whatever the reason, here's how to get your entire digital life from Android to iOS with as little head-scratching as possible. For simplicity's sake, we'll assume you're set up on Android with your data plugged into Google's services (Gmail, Google Calendar and so on). If you're using something else, like a Microsoft or Yahoo email address, the process will be similar, and often just involves installing the relevant Android-analogous app on your new iPhone. http://fieldguide.gizmodo.com/how-to-abandon-android-and-switch-to-ios-1794659232 ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20170604153444.GA27283@telecom.csail.mit.edu> Date: Sun, 4 Jun 2017 11:34:44 -0400 From: Bill Horne <bill@horneQRM.net> Subject: Level 3 moves closer to Centurylink merger Level 3 receives more state OKs, moves closer to CenturyLink merger By Jensen Werley BROOMFIELD - Level 3 Communications Inc. in Broomfield received two more state approvals it needs to confirm its merger with CenturyLink. Minnesota and Virginia are now among 15 states that have approved or cleared the massive merger, valued at $34 billion. http://bizwest.com/2017/05/30/level-3-receives-state-approvals-bringing-closer-merger-centurylink/ -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to send email to me directly) ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20170604154923.GB27454@telecom.csail.mit.edu> Date: Sun, 4 Jun 2017 11:49:23 -0400 From: Bill Horne <bill@horneQRM.net> Subject: CenturyLink Union Workers Authorize Strike In Contract Dispute By Edward Gately Centurylink technicians and other workers in Florida who are members of the Communications Workers of America (CWA) have rejected a proposed contract and approved a strike authorization vote. CWA Local 3176 announced the strike authorization approval and has launched a website outlining its issues with CenturyLink. Also, Florida State Sen. Victor Torres sent a letter to Glen Post III, CenturyLink's president and CEO, supporting the workers. http://www.channelpartnersonline.com/news/2017/05/centurylink-union-workers-in-florida-authorize-st.aspx -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ ********************************************* End of telecom Digest Mon, 05 Jun 2017
