The builds are surprisingly divergent. For PC, the build is numbered 16176; it's another Redstone 3 build, though as with the first Redstone 3 build, it doesn't change a whole lot. It adds access to serial ports from the Windows Subsystem for Linux, which will help with remote device debugging. The build also fixes some minor bugs while introducing a new, less minor bug. https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2017/04/microsoft-officially-ends-support-for-a-bunch-of-windows-phones/ ------------------------------ Message-ID: <2DED0EAF-43AE-42C9-9058-22A49A5CC483@roscom.com> Date: Sat, 15 Apr 2017 20:58:14 -0400 From: Monty Solomon <monty@roscom.com> Subject: T-Mobile dominates spectrum auction, will boost LTE network across US T-Mobile USA was the biggest winner in an auction that shifted licenses in the 600MHz spectrum band from TV broadcasters to the cellular industry. T-Mobile will pay $7.99 billion for 1,525 licenses spread throughout the country, according to the results announced today. T-Mobile boasted in a press release that it won 45 percent of the spectrum in the auction, amounting to "31MHz nationwide on average, quadrupling the Un-carrier's low-band holdings." https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2017/04/t-mobile-dominates-spectrum-auction-will-boost-lte-network-across-us/ ------------------------------ Message-ID: <A8685F4A-E4D7-4E01-A0DE-0C47F18255AE@roscom.com> Date: Sat, 15 Apr 2017 20:59:27 -0400 From: Monty Solomon <monty@roscom.com> Subject: Hands On With Samsung's Galaxy S8 and S8+: Taller Screens and Slimmer Bezels Samsung officially unveiled the latest Galaxy devices at its Unpacked event in New York today. Previous Galaxy phones were part Porsche 911 Carrera, with an easily recognizable curvaceous style, and part Swiss Army knife, bristling with technology and features. This analogy holds true for the 5.8-inch Galaxy S8 and 6.2-inch Galaxy S8+, which share the same design DNA as the previous two generations. The new phones' aluminum frame remains sandwiched between edge-to-edge Corning Gorilla Glass 5, with curved sides on the front and back. The curved rear glass makes the phones easier to pick up and more comfortable to hold just as they did for the S7 and S7 edge, while the curved front glass - now standard on both S8 models- adds some visual flair. http://www.anandtech.com/show/11225/samsung-galaxy-s8-hands-on ------------------------------ ********************************************* End of telecom Digest Mon, 17 Apr 2017
