Now it's hit the mainstream. Next week, the Federal Communications Commission plans to vote on gutting Obama-era rules meant to stop broadband companies such as Comcast, AT&T and Verizon from exercising more control over what people watch and see on the internet. http://abcnews.go.com/Technology/wireStory/net-neutrality-fans-speak-fcc-set-strike-rules-51673332 -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20171211003333.GA1252@telecom.csail.mit.edu> Date: Sun, 10 Dec 2017 19:33:33 -0500 From: Bill Horne <bill@horneQRM.net> Subject: Head to Head Comparison: CenturyLink and Verizon Communications By Donald Scott Verizon Communications and CenturyLink are both large-cap telecommunications services companies, but which is the better stock? We will compare the two businesses based on the strength of their profitability, analyst recommendations, dividends, valuation, risk, institutional ownership and earnings. https://www.thelincolnianonline.com/2017/12/09/critical-comparison-centurylink-ctl-vs-verizon-communications-vz-updated-updated.html -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ Message-ID: <20171211004922.GA1288@telecom.csail.mit.edu> Date: Sun, 10 Dec 2017 19:49:22 -0500 From: Bill Horne <bill@horneQRM.net> Subject: AT&T: Finally Some Positives Summary * AT&T stands to benefit from tax reform due to an effective tax rate currently around 35%. * Cash flows are set to get a major boost. * Progress on DirecTV Now could finally stem subscriber losses since the merger with DirecTV. My view on AT&T has trended towards negative in the last year or so as the wireless market became competitive and the wireless giant increasingly focused on large-scale mergers with massive distractions and integration headaches. The recent news suggests the company might finally start seeing some positives from the business and regulatory environment. https://seekingalpha.com/article/4130517-t-finally-positives -- Bill Horne (Remove QRM from my email address to write to me directly) ------------------------------ ********************************************* End of telecom Digest Mon, 11 Dec 2017
